Pumpkin Chips

PRESENTATION

Welcome to our culinary demonstration dedicated to a delicious and healthy snack: Pumpkin Chips in the Air Fryer. These crispy and flavorful chips offer a lighter alternative to traditional fried chips while maintaining all the taste and satisfaction you crave in a comfort food.

Pumpkin chips are a nutrient-rich option, as pumpkin is an excellent source of vitamin A, fiber, and antioxidants. Cooking in an air fryer significantly reduces the use of oil, making this snack a healthier choice compared to traditional fried chips.

For an even healthier variation, you can further reduce the oil or experiment with different spices to find your preferred combination. Pumpkin chips are perfect as a side dish, snack, or appetizer, adding a splash of color and flavor to any meal.

INGREDIENTS

FOR ABOUT 2 PEOPLE
500 g of pumpkin, preferably a sweet variety like Butternut squash
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (about 30 ml)
Salt and pepper
Herbs to taste (rosemary, thyme, sage, etc.)
Spices to taste (paprika, garlic powder, etc.)

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (356°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix the extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, spices, and selected herbs.
  3. Slice the pumpkin into thin pieces, aiming for a uniform thickness of about 0.5 cm (1/4 inch).
  4. Place the pumpkin slices in the bowl with the prepared seasoning and mix well to coat evenly.
  5. Arrange the seasoned pumpkin slices in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overlapping.
  6. Cook at 180°C (356°F) for about 15-20 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through for even browning on both sides.
  7. Serve the pumpkin chips hot, drizzling with a bit of raw olive oil and optionally garnishing with additional fresh herbs.

STORAGE

If you wish to store them, let them cool completely and then place them in an airtight container. They can be kept at room temperature for 1-2 days. However, they may lose some of their crispiness.

TIP

These chips are delicious on their own, but you can serve them with dips like Greek yogurt seasoned with herbs, guacamole, or a simple homemade ketchup.
