Chestnuts

PRESENTATION
Welcome! Today I will show you a delicious and healthy way to enjoy chestnuts: the air fryer. Chestnuts, with their autumnal flavor and soft texture, become even more delightful when prepared using this innovative technique.
Air fryer chestnuts offer numerous advantages. First of all, they are much lighter compared to the traditional fried version, as they don’t require large amounts of oil. This not only makes the dish healthier but also allows the natural flavors of the chestnuts to shine through without being overwhelmed by an oily taste.
Additionally, the air fryer ensures even and crispy cooking while maintaining the tenderness inside the chestnuts. The final result is a perfect combination of golden crispiness and sweet, tender flesh that melts in your mouth.
Air fryer chestnuts are ideal for enjoying on their own as a healthy snack or can be used in various autumn dishes, enhancing soups, salads, or even desserts.
INGREDIENTS
- FOR ABOUT 2 PEOPLE
- 500 grams of fresh chestnuts
- Fine salt
PREPARATION
- Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (about 400°F).
- Make a cross incision on each chestnut using a sharp knife. This helps prevent the chestnuts from exploding during cooking and makes it easier to remove the skin once cooked.
- Place the prepared chestnuts in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
- Cook the chestnuts at 200°C for about 15-20 minutes, shaking them halfway through to ensure even cooking. Cooking time may vary depending on the size of the chestnuts and the power of the air fryer.
- Check the chestnuts towards the end of the cooking time. They should be golden, and the skin should start to crack.
- Once cooked, remove the chestnuts from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before handling.
- Peel the chestnuts while they are still warm and serve immediately, seasoning to taste with a pinch of fine salt.
